Horses
On this trailriding trip, we use purebred Franche Montagne horses or Franche Montagne crosses and purebred Arabians from our own breeding programme. They are handled from birth and trained using John Lyons' behavioural method. They compete or have competed in TREC events and are therefore particularly well suited to trail riding! They are quite energetic and hardy, making them the perfect companions for your stay.
Saddlery
English or trail riding saddles, made of leather. We use different brands of saddles, including Forestier, Guichard, Devoucoux, Antarès, and others.
Saddle pads with pockets are available upon request.
Equestrian experience recommended
We ask that you be comfortable riding at all three gaits outdoors and be able to trail ride at a varied pace for 3.5 to 4 hours per day, depending on the route (25 to 40 km per day). As a guideline, a minimum level of Galop 3 is required to participate in these trail rides.
In the evening, you will be asked to groom/saddle/unsaddle and help care for the horses (feeding, watering, showering).
Maximum rider weight: 100 kg
Minors are accepted from 10 years old, if accompanied by an adult and have the necessary riding experience.
Helmets are compulsory on this trail ride!
Non-riders are welcome on these trail rides: bike hire is available (to be paid on site, approx. £10/day) as well as a paper or smartphone IGN map and luggage tracking on the same stages as the riders.
Supervision
Sophie and Ken, international multi-medal-winning TREC competitors and highly experienced professionals (breeders, ethiopaths, ethologists, teachers, etc.), are your guides on these trail rides.
They will guide you on horseback and help you discover their region and its secrets.
They speak French and English.
